Speed Skating - is a competitive form of ice skating in which the competitors race each other in traveling a certain distance on skates. Types of speed skating are long track speed skating short track speed skating and marathon speed skating.In the Olympic Games, long track speed skating is usually referred to as just "speed skating", while short track speed skating is known as "short track". The ISU, the governing body of both ice sports, refers to long track as "speed skating" and short track as "short track speed skating.


Artistic Skating -  is the style of roller skating on in-line skates that is most similar to ice figure skating. Quad skaters are also called artistic skaters, but in-line artistic skaters usually compete in separate events and not against quads.


Figure Skating -  is called FIGURE SKATING because years ago, beautiful designs were skated on clean ice in the shape of a figure eight. These complex designs were called figures and that is why figure skating is called FIGURE Skating.
Today, the sport of figure skating includes spins, jumps, footwork, challenging athletic moves, and artistry. Figure skaters call that part of figure skating freestyle or free skating. Figures are no longer done at most figure skating competitions. Figure skating also includes pair skating, ice dancing, and synchronize skating


In-line skating -  Skating using in-line skates: a sport or recreational activity in which skaters use in-line skates, often to perform acrobatic tricks
